Evenflo Tributes are an economical option for convertible car seats. These seats can be used in the rear-facing position with a child who weighs between five and 35 pounds, and in the forward-facing position with a child weighing 20 to 40 pounds. An Evenflo Tritubte can be the only seat needed for the first few years of your child’s life, which can save you money. If you’ve purchased a Tribute, using it correctly can help prevent injuries or death.

Rear-Facing Install with LATCH

Place the Tribute onto the seat you have chosen in your car. The Tribute should be placed at 45-degree angle, Edmunds says. Your Tribute has a level line indicator on its side; this indicator should line up with the ground.

Clip the LATCH hook farthest away from you into its corresponding LATCH anchor.

Clip the LATCH hook closest to you into its corresponding LATCH anchor.

Tighten the LATCH straps, and while tightening, put your body weight on the seat to get a tight install.

Forward-facing Install with LATCH

Place the Tribute on the car’s seat. The plastic wedge located at the bottom of the seat should be pulled down to help keep the seat level and supported.

Locate the two LATCH hooks on either side of the seat.

Clip the LATCH hook that’s on the side farthest away from you into its corresponding LATCH anchor.

Clip the other LATCH hook into its corresponding LATCH anchor.

Tighten the LATCH straps. While tightening, place your knee on the seat and push on it while you pull the strap to ensure a tight install.

Things You Will Need

  • Evenflo Tribute car seat
  • Tribute owner's manual
  • Car owner's manual

Tip

Cars manufactured before September 2002 might not have the LATCH and Tether features. You can use a basic lap and shoulder seat belt to install your Tribute. Check your owner’s manual to make sure you’ve correctly installed your seat with the seat belt.

A properly installed car seat won’t move more than an inch in any direction. If your seat moves when you push on it, reinstall it until you get a tighter install.

If you’re doing a forward-facing install, place the car seat on a seat that has a tether behind it. This hook is usually located behind and at the bottom of the corresponding seats. Some cars have the tether anchor near the back window. The Tribute has a tether clip that you can clip into this anchor and tighten to help increase your seat’s safety.

Warning

Read your car’s manual to see if it has any specific instructions for installing car seats.

Check your Tribute model’s owner’s manual for further specific instructions and safety features.
