How to Remove Baby Food Carrot Stains

Though carrots may be good for your baby, they aren’t good for your baby’s clothes. It almost seems at times that food ends up everywhere but in the baby’s mouth. Bibs are great for catching the majority of it, but sometimes even they aren’t enough. If carrot baby food stains are marring your child’s clothing, it’s a surprisingly simple fix. With a little extra care before washing, these unsightly stains are as good as gone.

Wipe the area with a clean cloth to remove any fresh baby food. Dried baby food will need to be scraped off with something dull, such as a plastic utensil, so as not to tear the garment.

Rinse the area under cold, running water.

Soak the garment in cold water with a bleach-free detergent. Adding 1-2 tbsp. of detergent per five cups of water should be enough.

Allow the garment to soak for 30 minutes.

Wash the garment in your washing machine, using warm water with bleach-free laundry detergent 1.

Remove the garment from the washing machine and visually inspect it.

Wash the garment a second time with laundry detergent and bleach. Use a color-safe bleach if the garment isn’t all white.

Dry the garment in the dryer once the stain is gone.

Tips

Do not use heat, such as hot water or a trip through the dryer, until the stain is gone. Heat will cook the stain into the fabric, setting it in permanently.
