Can You Feel Your Baby Kick at 10 Weeks?
In the first trimester of pregnancy, your baby is changing rapidly, and so is your body. When you feel your baby move for the first time, you may feel like you have butterflies in your stomach or gas. At 10 weeks, you will probably not feel your baby move, although he has started to wriggle a little in your womb. It will likely be about two more months before you feel your baby kick and roll around.
Your baby is about the size of a prune around week 10 of your pregnancy 14. Between weeks nine and 12, your baby will grow from being about 1 ½ inches long to 4 to 5 inches. At this point, you are unlikely to feel your baby kick or move. He is too far back in your womb and too small to feel moving in the first trimester, although he will start to move some.
At 15 weeks, your baby is definitely moving around inside your growing belly. However, he weighs just over 2 ounces, or about the weight of two paper clips. He is curling his toes, arms and practicing kicking. This is all to get ready for when you will be able to feel his exercise routine in two or three weeks.
17 to 20 Weeks
Between 17 and 20 weeks, your baby weighs almost a pound and is about 8 to 10 inches long 3. Your pinky is about the length of her legs, and they are getting more muscular. She uses those strong legs to make her presence known to you through kicks. You may begin to feel her move around at this point. Her arms are small, so you probably won’t feel any right hooks yet. However, she may suck her thumb and make a fist.
Some women, particularly those who have had babies before or who are slim, may begin to feel their babies move in their fourth month of pregnancy. It takes most women a few more weeks to feel their baby's quickening. Most women feel their babies move by the fifth month. By the sixth month, your little one may develop a pattern of movement. When you reach week 28, count how many times you feel her kick or move for an hour twice a day. Contact your healthcare provider if you do not count 10 movements within two hours. As she gets bigger, she will not have as much room to kick you, and you will probably feel her roll over and turn her head more often.
