There are many signs of pregnancy.

Pregnancy can be an exciting and scary time. If you think that you might be pregnant, look for signs and symptoms of pregnancy besides skipped periods. Even if you have already been pregnant, the symptoms that you experience this time could be different than previous pregnancies.

Swollen Breasts

One common symptom of pregnancy is sore and swollen breasts. This is often one of the first signs of pregnancy. Per the Mayo Clinic, as early as one to two weeks into pregnancy, your breasts might feel sore and tingly. This is due to the hormonal changes of pregnancy. Sore and swollen breasts can also be attributed to pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS), as well as birth control pills.

Nausea is a classic sign of pregnancy. If is often referred to as morning sickness, but can happen at any time of the day or evening. Feeling nauseous and vomiting can start to happen as early as two weeks after conception, according to the American Pregnancy Association. Not all women experience this symptom of pregnancy.

Food Cravings or Aversions

Craving certain foods is a common sign of pregnancy. Also, you may have aversions to foods that you have always liked. Both of these are due to hormonal changes that are particularly strong in the first trimester. But food cravings can commonly happen during PMS as well, which can be misleading. If you have aversions to foods based on the slightest smell of the food, you may be pregnant.

Fatigue is a common symptom in early pregnancy. Progesterone levels rise during this time, which causes fatigue. This hormone can actually induce sleep in high doses. In addition, fatigue is caused by low blood sugar and an increase in blood production. This fatigue is not just about being sleepy. It may also be that your mind and body are just not as sharp as they usually are.

In early pregnancy, you may become constipated. This is another side effect of the hormone progesterone. Increased levels of progesterone cause food to move more slowly through the intestines. However, as constipation isn't uncommon in general, many women don't think of it as a sign of pregnancy.
