Easter is a time of tremendous joy for Christians, and the song of a child is one of the finest expressions of that joy. Most Easter songs in the average hymnal aren't easy to sing -- even for adults -- but lots of fun and easy-to-learn Easter songs for preschoolers use tunes your kids are already familiar with.
Jesus Died and Rose Again
"Jesus Died and Rose Again" is sung to the tune of "Mary has a Little Lamb." The lyrics are:
Jesus died and rose again Rose again, rose again Jesus died and rose again I believe it
For added fun, have the kids squat low when they sing "Jesus died" and rise up really tall with their arms held high when they sing "rose again." To change things up a bit, you can change the last line to "I will, too," "I receive Him" or "On Easter Sunday."
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 I Know Jesus is Alive
Have the children count on their fingers while they sing this song to the tune of "1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Once I Caught a Fish Alive." You can also have children point to heaven when they sing "He" and at themselves when they sing "me." Have the children clasp their hands in prayer during the last line.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 I know Jesus is alive 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 He died for me, then rose again Why did He have to die? So I could have eternal life Where does He live today? In heaven, but He hears me when I pray
Jesus is His Name -- Oh
Another favorite Easter song for preschoolers is "Jesus is His Name -- Oh," sung to the tune of "Bingo."
My Savior died but rose again And Jesus is His name -- oh J-E-S-U-S J-E-S-U-S J-E-S-U-S And Jesus is His name -- oh
If you like, you can sing this song through several times, replacing the letters one at a time with hand claps, much as kids do when singing "B-I-N-G-O."
Do You Know the Son of God
Sing "Do You Know the Son of God?" to the tune of "Do You Know the Muffin Man?"
Do you know the son of God Son of God, Son of God? Do you know the son of God Who died and rose again?
To change things up a little, substitute "Oh, yes, I know the son of God," "I will obey the son of God," or "My savior is the son of God" for the first and third lines.
