AMIkids Space Coast

AMIkids Space Coast in Melbourne, Florida, provides education, behavior modification and treatment programs for troubled youth in the juvenile system and at-risk teens. The kids who participate in the programs live in dormitories on campus for a period that lasts between four and nine months. The facility strives to create a family-like atmosphere where kids learn life skills, receive an education and are provided with treatment, if necessary, for mental health and substance abuse.

The Rainwater Center

The Rainwater Center is a program from Crosswinds Youth Services for girls who are in the juvenile justice system or at risk of delinquency. The day program is designed for girls ages 12 to 18 to help prevent future delinquency. It provides schooling through an accredited alternative education program, life-skills training and case management. Individual, group and family counseling is also provided. Transportation to and from the center is offered.

Hacienda Girl’s Ranch

Hacienda Girl’s Ranch is a voluntary resident facility for homeless girls in Melbourne. The ranch can house up to 45 girls ranging in ages from 10 to 17. While at the ranch, the girls receive an education, mental health counseling and vocational opportunities. An Independent Living Program is also offered to prepare the girls to live on their own. The 25-acre ranch offers amenities such as residential-style homes, a swimming pool and a basketball court.

North Carolina Outward Bound School: Mims

North Carolina Outward Bound School is contracted by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice to help prevent juvenile delinquency. Outward Bound locations can be found across the United States, including a location in Mims. The 20-day wilderness expedition is designed to help troubled teenagers redirect their life in a positive direction. The expedition is designed to cultivate character development, academic success and problem-solving skills.
