Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Features America's Heroes
A sneak peek of Olympians Simon Biles and Aly Raisman as they trade leotards for bikinis for the upcoming issue of the Sports Illustrated iconic swimsuit issue.
When it comes to the female form, sexy comes in all shapes and sizes. And thanks to Sports Illustrated’s annual Swimsuit Issue, strong, muscular women are finally getting their due in an upcoming spread featuring badass Olympians Simone Biles and Aly Raisman. The gymnasts will be trading in their leotards for bikinis in the issue, which comes out in February.
This isn’t the first time Sports Illustrated has broken beauty stereotypes in the Swimsuit Issue: It featured curve model Ashley Graham on the cover last year. But choosing to highlight women who have openly spoken out about their insecurities about being muscular is a big win for athletic women — from Olympians to those who just play sports for fun — everywhere.
While you still have to wait a few weeks to see the full spread, Sports Illustrated has teased to People a few images (as well as a sultry behind-the-scenes video) of the superstars looking beautiful and bikini-clad at their photo shoot and getting their gymnastics on.
Let’s hear it for our strong, beautiful Olympians!
