One of the most important things a parent can do to ensure their baby's comfort and safety is to select a quality crib. A popular model on the market is the Evenflo Jenny Lind crib. Its features include hardwood construction, Colonial-style design with turned spindles, single drop-down side and caster wheels for easy moving. Like any crib, the integrity of its structure depends on how well it is assembled.

Step 1

Sort through the parts included in the kit box. Make sure you have all the pieces that are marked on the contents page, and separate them according to part.

Step 2

Install an "L" bracket and latch bracket on the left headboard legs with two 3/4-inch wood screws. Install an "L" bracket and latch bracket on the right foot board legs with two 3/4-inch wood screws.

Step 3

Install the cross dowel into the right side of the stationary rail with two 13/16-inch machine screws placed in the highest pre-drilled hole on the foot board. Leave the screws somewhat loose for now.

Step 4

Attach the bottom stationary rail to the foot board by using the cross dowel and two 13/16-inch machine screws. Repeat on the opposite side.

Step 5

Line up the holes of the hanger bracket with the holes on the mattress support frame. Screw the 1/2-inch machine screw into the aligned holes, and slide the nut onto the screw. Grip the nut with the pliers as you tighten the screw. Repeat on the three other sides of the mattress frame.

Step 6

Lift the mattress frame and slide the hanger brackets into the slots near the headboard and foot board.

Step 7

Install the casters on each leg. Push firmly on each wheel until the caster snaps into the socket.

Step 8

Install the drop side rail by inserting the attached pins into the latch brackets. Feed the drop side rod into the hole on the drop side rail. Push the small spring between the lower drop side rail and the latch bracket. Insert the rod through the spring, latch and drop side rail. Push the large spring above the "L" bracket. Repeat the procedure for the other end.

Step 9

Insert the drop side rod into the foot board and secure it with one 1/2-inch screw. Repeat the step for the headboard.
