Things to Do With Children at Patriot Place

By Cameron Garriepy

Sleek, contemporary architecture and modern amenities welcome visitors to Patriot Place. More than a million square feet of fashion, dining and entertainment wait inside. Situated adjacent to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, Patriot Place bills itself as “a once in a lifetime experience, every day.” With a wide variety of activities for children, Patriot Place is truly a destination for the whole family.

Uniquely Foxborough

The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon is the Kraft family’s “modern museum,” an immersive multi-media experience for fans of Foxborough’s own New England Patriots. Explore the Snow Bowl inside a geodesic dome or get in a huddle with quarterback Tom Brady via touch screen.

The Ocean Spray Nature Trail and Cranberry Bog at Patriot Place features a half-mile nature trail and the only remaining cranberry bog in Foxborough. A variety of wildlife and plant species call the area home, including great blue heron. The 16-acre cranberry bog offers visitors a look into the life-cycle of the cranberry and the history of cranberry farming.

Showcase Cinema de Lux Events

Every Tuesday, Patriot Place hosts Kids Club Storytime at Showcase Cinema de Lux. This weekly free event includes a story reading followed by a character visit and a short film screening. Showcase Live, a performance venue located adjacent to Showcase Cinema de Lux, presents live concerts, comedy shows and children's theater.

Interactive Entertainment

Patriot Place offers a changing schedule of daily and weekly activities for kids in the Activity Center and North and South Marketplaces, including bounce houses, face painting and balloon animals.

Kidville specializes in themed children's parties and classes in art, music, dance and gym for babies, toddlers and young children up to age 6. The facility includes a supervised indoor play space.

5 Wits hour-long shows combine special effects with interactive hands-on entertainment. As of time of publication, 5 Wits was offering two shows: "Espionage" and "20,000 Leagues." In the spy-themed adventure "Espionage," teams race to crack safes, dodge lasers and avoid capture. In a below-sea adventure, "20,000 Leagues" takes teams of explorers into a Victorian submarine to solve the mystery of what happened to Captain Nemo and the Nautilus.

Kid-Friendly Dining

Whether your kids need a sandwich, a treat or a sit-down meal, Patriot Place has family-friendly dining options. Quick-service choices like Qdoba, Five Guys, Red Robin and Capriotti’s Sandwich shop satisfy families on the go. Full-service restaurants like Olive Garden and Skipjacks offer children’s menus. Kids looking for a treat need search no further than Cupcake Charlie’s or Godiva for truffles and chocolate-dipped fruits.
