Things to Do With Children Near Fort Campbell, KY
Fort Campbell, Kentucky is home to the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. The town itself is relatively small, but not too far away in either direction you will find plenty to do with your kids. Clarksville, Tennessee is just a 13 mile drive to the south and Hopkinsville, Kentucky is 18 miles to the north, both of which are active cities with many attractions.
The Don F. Pratt Museum is part of Fort Campbell and the 101st Airborne Division (campbell.army.mil). This museum features a collection of military and war artifacts such as captured enemy weapons from Vietnam, a restored C-47 aircraft similar to those used in Normandy, old jeeps and several other significant aircraft.
The Trail of Tears Commemorative Park (trailoftears.org) is 17 miles from Fort Campbell in Hopkinsville. It honors the heritage of the American Indian in this pivotal location for the Cherokees as they were removed from their land and forced onto the infamous Trail of Tears. The park displays artifacts significant to the history of this event, as well as pow wow celebrations with dancing, drumming and food vendors.
