For some outdoor fun, take the kiddos to some of the parks and trails around the city of Fairfield. Visit Allan Witt Community Park (no website; 1741 West Texas Street, Fairfield; 707-428-7431), where you'll find 46 acres of parkland with two playgrounds, basketball courts and tennis courts. Or, take a hike with your kids at Laurel Creek Trail (no website; Meadowlark Drive and East Tabor Avenue; Fairfield; 707-428-7431).
When it's raining outside, there's still things to do with the kids in Fairfield. The Fairfield Cordelia Library (no website; 5050 Business Center Drive, Fairfield; 866-572-7587) offers free kids' programs, like science labs, story times, play times, games and book clubs. Or, take a free tour of the Jelly Belly factory (jellybelly.com) with your children. Grab something to eat at the Jelly Belly Cafe and take some jelly beans home from the Jelly Belly Candy Store. You can also have some exciting family time at Scandia Family Fun Center (scandiafamilycenter.com) where you can play games in the arcade, hit some balls in the batting cages, play some laser tag or miniature golf and ride some go-karts or bumper boats.
Get your kids involved in some of the sports activities available in Fairfield. The City of Fairfield's Youth Sports Program (fairfield.ca.gov) offers a variety of sports for the kids including basketball leagues, archery, soccer and baseball. You can also sign your child up for swim or diving lessons. Or, you can check out the programs offered through the Fairfield Family YMCA (lbymca.org/fairfield). There are swim lessons, a kids' swim club and the Jackrabbit Water Polo Club for kids 7 to 14.
You can also sign your kids up for a class in Fairfield to explore new interests or develop existing ones.
