Cool evenings, comfortably warm days and spectacular fall foliage signal the beginning of fall in Texas. For some families, this brings to mind haunted houses, Halloween events, pumpkins and trick or treating. In the Fort Worth area, you'll find a broad range of these fall activities to enjoy with your kids.

Fort Worth Family-Friendly Haunted House

In Fort Worth, your family can visit Hangman's House of Horrors for some frights. Admission includes a half-hour classic haunted tour, along with an Outbreak attraction that features zombies. There's also a 3D wonderland that's free for kids 5 and under. This venue is more of a fun house and offers low gore entertainment, but it's best to use your own discretion when deciding how much fright your child can handle. Ensure that your child knows the difference between reality and fantasy.

Grand Prairie Haunted Hallway

At Traders Village, 24 minutes away in Grand Prairie, you can take your kids to visit the annual Haunted Hallway. Kids can wear their Halloween costumes and take a trip through the kid-friendly haunted house with candy, costumed characters and fun family activities. While you're there, you can even get a family pumpkin patch photo by making a donation to the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce.

Pumpkin Patches

If your little ones are too frightened to visit a haunted house, you could opt for a visit to one of the area's pumpkin patches instead. Hall's Pumpkin Patch is 28 minutes away in Grapevine and features hayrides, pumpkin picking, a corn maze and children's activities. Mainstay Farm is just 18 minutes away, just south of Burleson. During Family Pumpkin Days, your family can have a picnic, navigate through a corn maze, go on a hayride, bounce on the jumping pillow, ride a mini train, race pedal cars and of course, pick some pumpkins.

You'll find an array of other Halloween events and activities in Forth Worth as well, including Treat Street at the Fort Worth Stockyards.
