Managing dirty diapers on a daily basis requires an effective system for containing and disposing of them. One option is the Diaper Genie disposal system, designed to contain the diapers and the odors so you can comfortably take them out to the trash. Once you know how to use your Diaper Genie, you can manage your baby’s diapers more easily.

The Diaper Genie system lets you operate it with one hand while holding your baby in your other arm. It tightly seals bags in multiple layers for odor control. The Diaper Genie system will hold up to 34 newborn diapers at a time. The Diaper Genie II has a lid on the top that you lift open to use the system, while the lid on the Diaper Genie II Elite opens with a foot pedal.

Diaper Genie Assembly

Assembling the Diaper Genie involves snapping the bottom and top halves of the container together at a hinge. Fit the “A” and “B” pieces together by matching the bar on piece “B” with the slot in the hinge on piece “A.” Push the pieces firmly until they click into place. Position piece “A” on top of piece “B” and click them into place again to finish the assembly.

Setting up the Diaper Genie

Prepare the Diaper Genie by inserting the tubular plastic film. Remove the lid from the system and set it aside. Remove the outer seal of plastic from the film and discard it. Pull about 18 inches of film from the roll and tie a tight overhand knot at the end of the plastic. Insert the film into the top of the Diaper Genie and push the knot down through the clamp with your hand. Place the lid back onto the Diaper Genie, clicking it into place.

Roll used diapers tightly and secure them with the diapers' adhesive tape. Avoid leaving the diaper tape unsecured, because the tape could stick to the plastic film that holds the used diapers and tear it. Open the lid of the Diaper Genie and insert the used diaper down into the container, pushing it through the clamp. Check to make sure the clamp closes again after you finish inserting the diaper. Close the lid.

Emptying the Diaper Genie

The Diaper Genie is full when the clamp no longer opens easily due to resistance from the full chamber. Press the button at the center of the unit to open the unit at the hinge. Pull out the film from the roll and cut it off, leaving enough so you can tie an overhand knot to seal in the diapers. The Diaper Genie has a built-in childproof cutter for cutting the film. Remove the tied bag of used diapers from the Diaper Genie and dispose of it. Pull 18 inches of plastic from the roll, tie an overhand knot, push the knot past the clamp and close the Diaper Genie tightly until it clicks and is ready for use.

Refilling the Diaper Genie

As you insert used diapers, watch the roll of film for an indicator that it’s time to replace it. Once you use up the film, empty the used diapers from the Diaper Genie and remove the empty spindle from the roll. Then insert a new bag roll.
