Nothing is more important than the safety of your child. Proper installation of a car seat in your car is essential to keeping your child safe. Many of the Cosco car seats offer multiple positions so that the car seat can quickly adjust to the needs of your child as she grows older. From when your baby is coming home from the hospital to the toddler stage, Cosco car seats will keep your child secure on the road.

Front-Facing Installation

Place the child car seat facing forward on the car's rear seat with the car seat back slightly reclined.

Thread the lap and shoulder belt through the slot on the side of the car seat and pull through to the other slot on the opposite side. If your car only has a lap belt, the lap belt should be pulled through the slots. If your car only has a shoulder belt, it should not be used to secure the car seat.

Clip the vehicle belt into the buckle plate.

Hook the locking clip onto both the lap and shoulder belts as close to the buckle plate as possible. Ensure that the lap belt is tight and the car seat does not move. If, after wiggling the car seat back and forth and forward, loosening does occur, twist the buckle plate and/or the lap and shoulder belts and refasten them. If it continues to loosen after, the location should not be used to restrain the car seat.

Rear-Facing Installation

Place the child's car seat facing the rear of the vehicle on the car's rear seat, with the child's car seat back fully reclined.

Thread the lap and shoulder belt through the slot on the side of the car seat and pull through to the other slot on the opposite side of the car seat. It will slide under the padding of the child's seating area. If your car only has a lap belt, the lap belt should be pulled through the slots. If your car only has a shoulder belt, it should not be used to secure the car seat.

Clip the vehicle belt into the buckle plate. Push down on the child's car seat and pull on the shoulder strap of the seat beat to ensure that the car seat is tight.

If it continues to loosen afterward, the location should not be used to restrain the car seat.

Adjusting the Child's Car Seat Back

Pull the handle on the bottom of the child's car seat and push the car seat's back away from the seat base to recline the car seat.

Pull the handle on the bottom of the child's car seat and pull the car seat's back toward the seat base to put the car seat in an upright position.

Fully incline the car seat when using rear-facing installation. Partially incline the car seat for forward-facing installation.
