There are many thousands of websites that contain adult content, which is inappropriate for viewing by children. Kids with access to the Internet need supervision to ensure that they stay safe from the potential harm of these websites. By blocking adult websites on your computer, you control what your children see by not allowing them to load restricted websites.

Step 1

Close all Internet browsers.

Step 2

Enter the letter of the drive with Windows installed, followed by “:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc.” in the “search” box of Windows Explorer.

Step 3

Open the “hosts” folder and then select “Notepad.”

Step 4

Press “enter” after the final character of the document to add another line at the end of the document.

Step 5

Enter “127.0.0.1” and a space. Enter the URL of an adult website you wish to block. Press “enter.”

Step 6

Enter “127.0.0.1,” a space and another URL to add additional adult websites. The numeric sequence must precede each website you wish to block.

Step 7

Click “File” and “Save” to save the changes.

Step 8

Open an Internet browser and attempt to access one of the blocked websites. The website should not display.
